“Got this portrait of my sweet girl as a birthday present years ago and it still amazes me every time I walk by it!! Looks identical to the reference photo. Tatiana does such a fantastic job at capturing the heart and soul of these animals. Can’t wait to get a matching one of her new sister! This is a great purchase for yourself or as a gift! Cannot recommend enough.”

Tatiana Clover, pet portrait artist in Palatka, Florida

Hi, I’m Tatiana

It started with a dog called Tyson.

Ten years ago I was working at Starbucks with an itch to paint and nothing to paint. I asked my coworkers what they’d want. One of them had just lost the family dog, and asked for him.

I’ve painted people’s animals ever since, always in acrylic, always in realism, matching the fur, color and texture to your photo by hand.

For the ones you miss

A lot of my work is memorial work. Send the photo you love most and tell me about them. We’ll take it at your pace.

Questions people ask

How much does a custom pet portrait cost?

Portraits start at $60 and go up to $210, for one animal on a solid background in acrylic on canvas: 5 × 7 in $60, 8 × 10 in $90, 9 × 12 in $110, 11 × 14 in $130, 16 × 20 in $180 and 18 × 24 in $210. Ornaments and pendants are $30, and 3 × 3 mini canvases are $25.

How long does a pet portrait take?

About two weeks for a 5 × 7, 8 × 10, ornament or mini canvas. About three weeks for a 9 × 12 or 11 × 14. Four to six weeks for a 16 × 20 or 18 × 24. I paint only three commissions at a time, so tell me about any deadline when you ask.

When should I order for Christmas?

I close December 20 through January 5. Order big canvases (16 × 20 and 18 × 24) by early November, and small portraits, ornaments and mini canvases by early December.

Can you paint two pets or add a background?

Yes. The prices above are for one animal on a solid background. For two pets or a scene, tell me what you have in mind and I’ll give you a price before you pay a deposit.

What photo should I send?

Your favorite one. A sharp photo taken in daylight, close to their eye level, with the eyes clearly visible works best. If you have several, send them all and I’ll tell you which will paint well.

Do you paint pets that have passed away?

Yes. A lot of my work is memorial work, and my very first commission was one. Send the photo you love most and tell me about them. More about memorial portraits.

How does payment work?

A 50% deposit holds your place, and you pay the rest when it’s finished. I take cash, Venmo, Cash App and PayPal.

Will I see it before it’s finished?

Yes. I plan the composition on my iPad first, then send progress photos at every stage, from sketch to finished color, so any changes happen early.

Where are you, and do you deliver?

I’m in Palatka, Florida. I meet up or deliver within about two hours of Palatka, including St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Palm Coast, Ocala and Daytona Beach. Otherwise I ship the painting flat.
